Today we had a group of 4 new kids coming to the Unreal Engine Demo class. Just like yesterday, the students were introduced to the fundamentals of the Unreal Engine. We started the class with a lecture explaining what the Unreal Engine is and how it is implemented in all sorts of entertainment applications beyond games.
The second part of the class went similar as yesterday's as they were a brand new group of students. We hit the ground running with an overview of the basics of moving assets around and duplicating objects. We then spent some time customizing the scene, explaining some of the basics of lighting as well as how to add fog/atmosphere to an environment.
Finally, we took some time to go over the basics of writing out a node based shader graph, and the the students how to make a glowing material. You can see in the pictures below how the student added a fire material to a black sphere. They loved playing and learning about the world of Unreal Engine 4.
